![]() Don't bother with Trainer Ratings for the GMs but do make some changes for all of them in Strategy Tendencies. ![]() Set all GMs to have Neutral for Scouting Preference.ĥ. For Scouting Ratings, have all GMs set to 100 for Scouting Majors, Scouting Minors, Scouting Internationally, and for Scouting Amateurs. Don't worry about changing the GM teaching numbers but give each GM a Normal Manager Personality, a Conventional Manager Style, and Neutral for both Hitting Focus and for Pitching Focus.Ĥ. For Manager Ratings, have all GMs set to 100 for handle players, handle veterans, and handle rookies. Click on the GM and then click Editor on his page.ģ. Feel free to have them set differently than my preferences but be sure to set them all the same. Click on each and every team's GM (Team>FrontOffice>Personnel>Name) and set them to how you think. Create any new game from start either modern or historical but be sure to check the box that you will be in Commissioner Mode.Ģ. The "new and improved" GMs will then all think like you do and none of them will likely make very stupid trades nor other strange roster moves. The important change is to manually fix all MLB GMs while being in commissioner mode. With this one change do not expect to take any poor team and make them World Series champions in three or four years as your task will become much more difficult. OOTP21 is worth repeated play and all results will vary but you may do one thing to most improve the game experience and to make the game more of a challenge. Unfortunately many of us think that with experience in OOTP that we can take any team to the World Series within three or four years and some of us will quit the game after once winning the Fall Classic. Both should be rewarding this winter and both can involve hundreds or even thousands of hours with game time depending upon how detailed and involved is your preference for human intervention. Others will start at some historical year to both replay seasons past and to imagine what if some historical team had done things differently or had better luck. Some of you will replay the 2020 MLB season and continue the simulation into the unknown future in quest of a dynasty. If you prefer a tinker-free environment, then do nothing except maybe change stats from "very high detail" to "normal" because it'll speed things up also you don't need box scores for everything so either "major leagues" would work.We all face the prospect of no real baseball until next spring and I assume that many of us will spend some of our snow days playing OOTP21. Beauty of OOTP is you could do several of these in parallel saves, so it doesn't really matter what you do so long as you're having fun with it.Īlso, I'd decide how you want injuries to be, whether you want to have the game do stat engine according to history and check out the financials too. Otherwise, you'll see something play out that you wish was different and had noticed at the time but didn't get a chance to. Unless your goal is entirely to sim just to see the stats and nothing else, I'd say going slowly - every 5-10 years - and seeing how things are going is a good way to enjoy it. OOTP is really speedy, so you can pretty much do a sim like this - assuming you're not keeping on a bunch of stuff - within an hour or less. But I did decide around 20 years in to remove the color line, started expansion not according to history and so forth. I'm doing one of those right now, I'm currently in 1992 and I don't play out the games at all. I think the trick is deciding how you want to engage.
